POSITIVE BENEFITS OF A TAX CUT

AND ANOTHER THOUGHT ON THE WHITEHOUSE SHOOTING INCIDENT
Handguns are virtually banned in the District of Columbia. A 1976 law
passed by the D.C. City Council requires all firearms to be
registered. All gun owners have to be licensed. And the sales of new
handguns are prohibited. It's illegal for anyone to bring a handgun into
the District or to transport a handgun through the city.
Did Robert Pickett know of these laws when he took his .38-caliber
revolver to the fence outside the South Lawn of the White House yesterday
morning? Maybe, maybe not. Did those laws prevent him from brandishing the
gun at police officers? Of course not!
Will more laws prevent nutcases like Robert Pickett or William Baker from
doing what they did this week? Nope.
POSITIVE BENEFITS OF A TAX CUT
Democrats will tell you that a tax cut is a bad idea. They'll call it all
sorts of things from "irresponsible" to "extreme."
They'll tell you they need to prop up Social Security for another few
years while they fix everything. They'll tell you that letting Americans
keep more of their earnings will lead to reduced government tax revenue.
It's just not so. Look at these numbers from the Heritage Foundation. In
1964, Congress passed John F. Kennedy's tax cut plan. The top tax rates
fell from 91 percent to 70 percent--and between 1961 and 1968, the economy
expanded by more than 42 percent, after inflation. And tax revenues grew
62 percent. That's a 33 percent INCREASE in tax revenue after you take out
inflation.
Ronald Reagan slashed the top tax rate from 70 percent to 28 percent
during his two terms. Federal income tax revenue rose from $244 billion in
1980 to $446 billion in 1989. After inflation, that's a 14 percent
increase. Economic growth averaged almost 4 percent.
Don't believe the lies, folks. A tax cut puts more of your own money in
your pocket. It puts you in the driver's seat. It gives you the power to
put more money into your child's college education, or maybe some home
improvements, or maybe a new car. And that's what has the big-government
Democrats hopping mad--they have other plans for your money. They want
social programs and entitlements and all sorts of vote-buying measures to
make sure you stay fat and happy on the Democratic plantation.
ANOTHER PC HYPER-SENSITIVE OUTRAGE - "Jesus Loves You" Bricks
This one is from Newburyport, Mass.
It seems they have a public park there with a brick walkway. Citizens were
invited to help fund the park by paying to put messages on some of the
bricks. Now it seems that two of the bricks have been removed. One said
“For all the unborn children.” The other brick said “Jesus Loves
You.”
A spokeswoman for the city said that the bricks made people feel
“unwelcome” in the park.
Anyone who would feel unwelcome in a public park because one 8 inch brick
says “Jesus loves you” should damn well feel unwelcome. People
suffering from acute obsessive-compulsive-hyper-sensitivity syndrome
should just damn well lock themselves in their homes and stay the hell
away from normal civilized society. If these people feel unwelcome they
should be seeking professional help. They’re sick whackos who are
hemlock to a free society.
Man, we really need some more beds in our mental institutions out there.
