I’ve been warning you that the leftists have developed a sure-fire plan for permanent control of the Imperial Federal Government of the United States … and that they’re implementing that plan to perfection.

The plan is simple.  Using tax increases on the rich, tax cuts for the middle and lower income groups, various tax credits, rebates, exclusions and exemptions, the left is steadily shifting the entire burden for the payment of federal income taxes to a small percentage of upper income, high-achieving Americans.  The ultimate goal is for the left to be able to seize money from the high-income minority (who’s votes they don’t need) and to spend that money buying votes and undying loyalty from the middle and lower income majority.

If you didn't happen to read the recent column by Paul Craig Roberts, a link is at the end of this segment.  The gist of the column is that Americans are seeing their property rights slowly deteriorate and slip away.  Property rights are disappearing as those who would use the government as an instrument of plunder gain the voting majority.’

We’ve seen the newest statistics on which income levels pay what taxes.  Paul Craig Roberts does something that I haven’t seen before.  He breaks down the income and taxes equation into actual voters.

There are about 199 million voters in this country.  Seventy million of these voters have absolutely no federal income tax liability at all.  Do the math.  This means that 35 percent of voters are entirely out of the federal income tax picture. I think a good argument could be made that these people shouldn’t be voting at all.

OK … We’ve taken care of 35% of the voters.  I’m sure you can see that these net tax consumers are hardly going to be voting Republican or Libertarian.

The next group of voters are the 129 million (out of the 199 million total) who actually pay federal income taxes.  Roberts divides the voters who actually pay taxes into the top 25 percent and the bottom 75 percent.  About 97 million voters make up the bottom 75 percent of income earners who actually pay some federal taxes.  This 75 percent pays a whopping 17 percent of all federal income taxes collected.  So, let’s add this 97 million voters who pay about 17 percent of the federal income taxes to the 70 million voters who pay nothing.  That adds up to 167 million voters out of a total of 199 million.  More math --- this means that 84 percent of all voters amount for 17 percent of all income taxes paid.

Now we go to the remaining voters.  The 32 million we have left.  These are the higher income earners.  The high achievers.  These 32 million Americans pay 83 percent of all federal income taxes collected.  They account for 16 percent of the voters.

Come on, folks.  Do you have to be hit with a truck here?  Sixteen percent of the voters in this country are paying 83 percent of the federal income taxes.  The Democrats and leftists don’t need their votes.  They need their money for their big government, welfare state spending programs.  When Ted Kennedy called for a tax increase last week who do you think he was talking about ?  That 16 percent, that’s who.  The 16 percent of Americans who are paying 83 percent of the taxes.  And where did Kennedy want to spend the money?  On the other 84 percent of voters, that’s where.

It’s foolproof, my friends.  If you have 1000 voters who are going to cast votes on your future --- and if you can take money away from 160 of those voters to be used to buy votes from the other 840 … you have it made.  Election assured.

We’re at the edge, folks.  We’re rapidly approaching the point where the ballot box is no longer going to work for the high-achievers in this country. At that point there are two viable options:  Open revolt, or simply withholding your labor.  What’s it going to be?

Wake up.  We’re being fattened for the kill.

Paul Craig Robert's Article\Archives\Issues\29\NM\prop_sec.htm

I found this one in a Wall Street Journal editorial the other day. It seems that the Department of Transportation has issued some document entitled “Guidance for Screeners and Other Security Personnel.”  The document was issued because of “concerns .. about intimidation and harassment directed at individuals who are, or are perceived to be, of Arab, Middle Eastern, or South Asian descent and/or Muslim.”

Now … get this. This document tells screeners that they “ .. may not rely on generalized stereotypes or attitudes of beliefs about the propensity of members of any racial, ethnic, religious or national origin group to engage in unlawful activity.”

Translation?  OK … here’s your translation.  Screeners can’t single out people who look like terrorists for extra attention at airport screening stations.

So --- do some people really look like terrorists?  Well you take a gander at those pictures of Richard Reid – the shoe-bomber – and you tell me.

  • Fact:  Several terrorist groups have vowed to kill American civilians anywhere they can find them.

  • Fact:  One particular terrorist group has vowed to hijack additional US airliners and crash them into buildings.

  • Fact:  All – and that means every single one – of the terrorist groups mentioned above are adherents to a radical form of Islam.

  • Fact:  The vast majority of the members of these terrorist groups are of Arab or other Middle Eastern descent and all such members are Muslims.

  • Fact:  All – and that means every single one – of the terrorists/hijackers who participated in the September 11th attacks on the citizens of the United States were of Arab or other Middle Eastern descent and all were Muslims.

And now let’s follow up all of those facts with just one more fact.

  • Fact:  Government airport security screeners are being told that they cannot single out a person of Arab or Middle Eastern descent, or a person who appears to be Muslim, for any special attention at airport security stations.

There is only one word for that.  That word is IDIOCY.

This stupid penchant we have for political correctness in this country is going to get more of our citizens killed.

A recent column by Walter Williams appears in the current issue of Ideas on Liberty from the Foundation for Economic Education.   Williams is pushing something I’ve been advocating for years --- radical adjustments on just who should vote in Federal elections.  As Williams puts it, “.. just how fair is it to allow those who pay little or no taxes to use the political process to decide how much taxes others should pay?”

Exactly, Mr. Williams!  I’m with you! (Or you’re with me --- whatever.)

But – just to stir the soup a little more – here’s a tax reform that would go a long way toward changing our system right now. This tax reform would neither raise nor lower taxes.  No evil rich person would have to pay one penny less in federal income taxes under this reform plan, and now poor, poor, pitiful poor person would have to pay one penny more.  Government revenue would remain the same.

So, what’s the big idea here?  Simple.  End withholding.  The withholding of taxes from paychecks was supposed to be a temporary measure during World War II.  We were told it was needed to keep the money flowing to the federal government for the war effort.  Prior to World War II taxpayers would simply write a check once a year to the federal government.  Determine what they owe, and write the check.

Free spending politicians just love the withholding system.  They know that most wage earners in America really don’t have any idea how much they really earn on the job.  All you need to do to understand what the politicians already know is to just ask a few coworkers how much they make.  The vast majority of wage earners will not say “I make $____ a week.”  Instead, they’ll say “I take home $_____ a week.”  They know what they “take home,” not what they actually earn.  That’s a symphony to the ears of tax-and-spend politicians.  The income tax money is gone – gone before the pay envelope arrives --- and the wage earner doesn’t even miss it.

Then … along comes April 15th.  Time to go back to your knowledgeable co-worker again:

“Hey, Joe!  How much tax did you have to pay this year?”

“Man!  I didn’t have to pay anything!  I’m getting some back!”

By now our tax-and-spend politician is experiencing convulsions of joy!  How better to keep power than to rule over idiots?  These saps don’t even know how much tax they paid over the year!  They just know the amount of their refund check.

So --- end withholding.  Change the law.  Every month all wage earners will be required to write a check to the U.S. Treasury for that month’s income taxes.  Make the employer calculate the amount, if you like --- but make the wage earner write the check.  Every month.  If they don’t write the check, the interest starts to accrue.

My friends … I guarantee to you an instant tax revolt.

It's a nice dream

In most major airports across the country accomplished, achievement-oriented, successful businessmen and women are being subject to unconscionable harassment at the hands of high-school dropouts and others from the marginally employable class at airport passenger screening stations.

Particularly outrageous is the harassment that is being visited on airline flight crews, particularly pilots.  Some Captains now insist that the entire flight crew for their flights meet at the airport and go through security as a group.  The Captains want to be there to protect their crewmembers, especially female flight attendants, as the screeners do their thing.   It seems that some screeners are even using their newfound powers as an excuse not only to harass, but to, shall we say, cop a feel from the ladies.

Here’s one particular example that illustrates just how sick this whole system has become.  A pilot for U.S. Airways was recently stopped for the full search at the screening station.  The brilliant screener had noticed something in his bag that she perceived to be a security threat.  Since she noticed something in his flight bag, she demanded he remove his shoes.  She told him she wanted to search his shoes for “explosives.”  Making sense so far, right?  Well --- just hold on a minute.

The pilot thought that the screener might have seen his flashlight.  He is required to carry a flashlight --- four D-cells and all.  Nope.  That wasn’t what she was after.  It turns out it was his headset --- his aviation headset.  The screener was upset about the headset because it had a plug on the end of it --- you know, the jack that the pilot would plug into the aircraft radios.  The screener thought the plug “could be used as a weapon.”  Calmer, and more educated heads, prevailed and the pilot was allowed to board his airplane, headphones and all.

You will remember several weeks ago that we heard from a pilot that wasn’t allowed to take his mandated flashlight through the security checkpoint.  He asked the screener how he was supposed to pre-flight his airplane in the dark without the flashlight.  “I don’t know,” said the screener.  “That’s your airline’s problem.”

It appears that we now have a system where a high school dropout security screener can tell an experienced (not to mention educated) airline pilot what he can and cannot carry into the cockpit of an airplane.

Let’s pause for a moment to give the Democrats thanks for making these losers government employees --- and to the Bush Administration for refusing to stop it from happening.

Is this not a fabulous picture of President Bush leaving the White House? He's carrying the usual books and notebooks and papers and stuff with him under his arm, but check out that book! It's Bernard Goldberg's book, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distorts the News.

It's a fascinating, great picture, is it not?

When I first saw it, I thought somebody was doctoring pictures, as you can these days, but we double-checked it and found out it's legit. It's the truth.

That's some good reading, Mr. President.

A bedwetter named Matt Bivens wrote a story last Friday for The Nation's website.  He was desperate to achieve the leftist dream of directly tying  George W. Bush to the Enron scandal (oh how the Dems keep trying).  Initially, he wrote the following:

"When George W. Bush co-owned the Houston Astros and construction began on a new stadium, Kenneth Lay agreed to spend $100 million over thirty years for rights to name the park after Enron."

Houston, we have a problem.  Bush was co-owner of the Texas Rangers, not the Astros. Oops.  When the Wall Street Journal pointed that fact out on their Opinion Journal site, The Nation changed their story.  This was the revision.

"When George W. Bush co-owned the Texas Rangers and construction began on a new stadium, Kenneth Lay agreed to spend $100 million over thirty years for rights to name the park after Enron."

Houston, we still have a problem.  The Texas Rangers have nothing to do with Houston or with Enron Field.  That’s where the Houston Astros play, not the Rangers.  The Texas Rangers' stadium has no corporate sponsor.   It’s just called “The Ballpark at Arlington.”  Oh, and another thing...Bush sold his share of the team a year before Enron made the deal with the Astros.  The Bivens unsuccessful hack-job is now nowhere to be found on the site.  As John Adams said, facts are stubborn things.

The Hildebeast and Nevada Democrat Harry Reid are currently preparing legislation that would federalize all security workers at the nation's 103 nuclear power plants.  I assume that when they get through with it, the security guards will be more interested in looking for nail clippers and flashlights than for terrorists.  I wonder if a high school diploma will be a requirement to guard a nuclear facility.  Probably not...after all, what's she's looking for is more Democrat voters.  But it appears that, as usual, she is seeking to "fix" something that doesn't need fixing.  The head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission had this to say about Hillary's plan:

"Current security forces at sensitive NRC nuclear facilities are well-trained, well-paid and have high retention rates. There have been no failures in nuclear plant security of this type that has plagued the commercial airline industry and thus no need for such radical change."

Maybe so, but "well-trained, well-paid" workers generally don't vote Democrat.

We’ve seen what happens when you “federalize” security screeners at airports.  Let’s not compound the problem.

According to ABC News, terrorists have been looting our capitalist economy with a very unlikely coupons.  They set up a network that gathered the coupons, crumpled them to make them look used, then shipped them to their affiliated group of grocers who turn them into the manufacturers for the money.  Estimates are that they can pull as much as $125 million a year -- some of which may have helped fund the 9/11 attacks.  They also have been involved in other low-risk, high-pay ventures like cigarette smuggling and credit card fraud.

Alan Greenspan told Congress the other day that we have turned the corner in the current recession.  He also said that the economy would continue to improve with or without a stimulus package.  Tom Daschle does NOT want a recovery before the fall elections, but if he gets his entitlement program that he calls a "stimulus" passed, he can always claim credit for the improvement in the economy.  Hmmm...maybe the best thing Republicans could do right now would be to block passage of ANY stimulus package.

The Battleground poll is a bi-partisan group, headed by Republican Ed Goeas and Democrat Celinda Lake.  That means their poll results are fair and untainted by politics.  In their first poll since the 2000 election, they had some very interesting results.

1. Question:  What is the problem you and your family are most concerned about?

Economy        28%

Other               22%

Terrorism        15%

2. Question:  Which party do you think could do a better job of solving this problem?

Republicans    38%

Democrats      29%

3. Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling the economy?

Approve            67%

Disapprove      24%

4. Do you approve or disapprove of the way the Democrats in Congress are handling the economy?

Approve            39%

Disapprove       42%

There is a  lot more that is generally not good for the Dems.  I would imagine they feel like Butch and Sundance, looking over their shoulders asking, "Who ARE those guys?"

He signed this the other day.  The bill gives various types of tax relief to the families of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  No federal income tax on the 2001 salaries earned by the victims.  No estate taxes.

Hey … what happened to “equal protection under the law?”  If your husband is killed in a car wreck in 2001 is your loss any less than someone who lost a loved one at the Pentagon or the World Trade Towers?  Why should you be subject to estate taxes, and they are not?

Sorry.  Bad law.  Bad precedent.  Expect trouble from this one in the future.

Officials in Kandahar are saying they are concerned that neighboring Iranians are sneaking into parts of Afghanistan bringing cash, goods, and weapons to ex-Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters, and disgruntled warlords in an attempt to plant the seeds of unrest against the new but still-fragile Afghan government.  It seems Iran is not too comfortable with the idea of an Islamic neighbor that practices freedom for it people...not to mention the presence of so many western influences.  After all, they know that freedom is contagious.  Democrats know that too, and it frightens them.

"I took the beer because I want to go to jail," Robert Fremer said, according to an arrest report. "Take me to jail. I can't succeed in this world. They won't give me a chance."

Fremer, who has spent years in jail, took the beer and told the clerk to call the police.  He was sitting calmly in the parking lot with the six-pack of beer at his side when police arrived.

Get him a job as a security screener.

Remember that deranged law student who killed a few folks at a law school in Virginia last week?  The shooting was covered in virtually all major news outlets around the world.  There was one thing about this shooting that was not reported though.  One thing ignored.  And just what would that be?  Read John Lott and find out.

Where is the scrap metal from the Twin Towers going?  You might be surprised.
